Meet the Comedians...

 

Katie Mulgrew

 

Katie is an award winning writer and comedian.

 

She’s done television warm up for This Time Next Year (ITV) Little Big Shots (ITV) and The 1000k Drop (Channel 4). She was the Voice over for Channel 4’s Can I Improve My Memory? She also co-presented the ITV2 broadcast pilot, Lovefix.

 

As an actor she’s appeared in Coronation Street (ITV) and got heat stroke wearing an Easter bunny suit in an advert for a supermarket.

 

She’s been a panellist on Radio 4’s Where’s the F In News? and CBBC’s The Dog Ate My Homework.

 

Katie was shortlisted for The Tobacco Theatre prize and won the inaugural Liverpool Hope Playwriting Prize for her play, Omnibus (**** ‘Very funny stuff”, The Stage).

 

She was a member of BEAM, a writers programme from Mercury Musical Developments. She is the co-book writer of #zoologicalsociety with fellow comedian, Vikki Stone which is a new musical commissioned by the Theatre Royal and Derngate Northampton. She is also writing the book for a new musical Southbound, currently in development.

 

Katie won The Kudos North award, an award in conjunction with BBC Writersroom and Kudos North productions. She was recently a member of the BFI’s, Film Hub North’s 2020 Scriptlab.

 

She’s also a mother to two absolutely delightful maniacs.

 

 

 

Phil Ellis

 

Phil Ellis is an award-winning comedian who has entertained audiences of all ages with his amalgamation of off-beat observational material and physical comedy.

 

Phil won the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award’s panel prize in 2014 with his undisputed anarchic sleeper hit of a show Funz and Gamez. After meeting incredible critical acclaim, Funz and Gamez was broadcast as part of Fresh from the Fest (BBC Radio 4), as well as part of BBC Comedy Feeds (BBC Three). The show went on to have an 18-show run at the Soho theatre as well as a further run at the Udderbelly on Southbank.

 

Phil has written and starred in three series of his radio sitcom Phil Ellis is Trying (BBC Radio 4), with cast including Lolly Adefope, Johnny Vegas, Sean Lock and Lee Mack. The second series was nominated for Best Scripted Comedy (Longform) in the BBC Audio Drama Awards 2020.

 

Phil’s TV appearances include Roast Battle (Comedy Central), The Tez Show (Channel 4), The Russell Howard Hour (Sky) and Drunk History: UK (Comedy Central), as well as writing and performing credits on The Tapeface Tapes (BBC Three).

 

 

 

Rich Wilson (richwilsoncomedian.com)

 

His “tour de force” (Leicester Mercury) performances have earned him a win for Best International Guest at the 2016 New Zealand Comedy Awards, followed by a sell out run in 2017 which saw him nominated for the same award again. He's performed at sellout shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne Comedy Festival and the New Zealand Comedy Festival. An extremely in demand writer, Rich Wilson has also contributed on shows for BBC Three, Sky Arts and Channel 4.

 

Rich is also the host of the wildly popular insane in the: podcast series; currently featuring Men Brain, Fem Brain and soon for your aural pleasure, Them Brain! Rich talks to funny and interesting people about their experiences with mental health. In the last year the podcast has been nominated for an award with Podbible and in 2019 won an award with JOE for best podcast with the likes of; Guilty Feminist, Off Menu and Films To Be Buried With.
