On the surface, retired miner Don (John Lister)and private school teacher Carol (Kate Cawte) would seem to have little in common but below the surface, their late spouses rest in adjacent graves. Don and Carol strike up an unusual friendship based on a mutual love of cycling in general and the Tour de France in particular. An innocent coffee leads to a bike ride through the Yorkshire Dales and before they know it, they’re on a hilarious trip through Europe to Florence. One thing is for sure: it takes two to tandem!
