Sally and Lyn both work from their studios on the North Yorkshire Moors, finding inspiration every day from the vast landscapes and varied wildlife on their doorstep, and transforming them into paintings and lino prints.
Sally has lived and worked on the North York Moors since 1970. Having trained at Leeds College of Art and the Royal College in London in both Fine art and Printmaking, she moved back to Yorkshire and worked as a designer for Liberty of London while pursuing a career in teaching. Since retiring from teaching she now spends more time in her studio producing paintings and prints, the subjects of which are drawn from music and literature, and woven together with images from the local landscape.
Lyn's training as a graphic designer has allowed her to transfer the skills of using simple block colour and shapes to the more tactile process of printmaking.
Fundamentally each print begins with a simple walk, observing and connecting with her surroundings from the heart of the landscape.
