Contractions

Please find below information for the auditions. Please note this is an amateur production and particpation is voluntary.

"A short play about what the future holds for people who work in office administration jobs. The 2 characters go on a journey where the work contract takes over and get invasive for the younger woman which leads to her downfall. The play is witty, dark, and eye opening to what could possibly happen in the future…

Audition dates and times

  • Date - Monday 12th February
  • Time - 6:30 until 8:30
  • Location - Helmsley Arts Centre

Audition requirements

  • When you arrive we will be doing some warm ups (vocal and physical) so make sure you wear comfortable clothes that you can easily move around in.
  • I will be asking you to read sections of the scrips with various people, this is so i can get a few for who works together well and if you compliment eachother on stage. i will also be looking for a good dynamic between you on stage with another actor as the relationship between the two characters is very important for the narrative
  • There will be no need to prepare anything for this audition as i will give you the script there and you can familiarise yourself with it but there will be no need to memorise anything.

Character descriptions

  • The Manager (Female or Male, 30s) is a very stern character who has had a lot of experience working in the building as she has worked her way up to her position. She is quite literal and comes across as rude a lot of the time. She is a physical representation of the system being broken.
  • Emma (Female, 20s) is new to the company, she doesn’t have a lot of experience working in this department but has a good work ethic. Throughout the play we see her character develop from a naive girl to an independent strong young woman.
