"A futuristic comedy about conception, state control and rebellion. Three friends are at a baby shower, discussing their friend’s pregnancy, however, darker things are on their minds, more than babygrows and cupcakes.
Audition Dates and Times
- Date - 19th of February
- Time - 6.30 til 8.30
- Location - Helmsley Arts Centre.
Audition Requirements
- Upon arrival, you will have some time to read through the script and different roles. You will be required to read with other people whilst potentially being asked to read through different roles. It will be a cold reading from the script so it does not require preparation.
- Come in some comfy clothes as we will be doing some vocal and movement exercises at the beginning.
Character Descriptions:
- Molly is a central character embodying a complex blend of innocence, vulnerability and resilience. She is a young woman caught in the turbulent whirlwind of life’s challenges. Despite her age, her demeanour is mature, perhaps stemming from the hardships she has faced. Molly is fragile and fiercely independent. Her journey is marked by a quest for identity and belonging. She seeks bonds with others, yearning for connection amidst a world of uncertainty.
- Joanne is a pivotal character, presented by her liveliness, resilience and unwavering loyalty. She possesses a magnetic presence that draws others towards her. Despite the hardships she faces, Joanne approaches life with irrepressible optimism, finding joy in the simple pleasures and embracing each day with enthusiasm. She has infectious laughter and a quick wit to source comfort to those around her. Her story serves as a reminder of the indomitable spirit of the human and the transformative power of love and friendship.
- Natasha is a woman of mystery and allure, possessing a mystifying charm that captivates those around her. From the moment she enters the stage, she presents an air of sophistication and confidence, commanding attention with her graceful presence. She is a complex and subtle character, harbouring many emotions and secrets, leaving others intrigued by her elusive nature. Throughout the play, Natasha's character undergoes a transformation as her layers are gradually peeled back, revealing the vulnerabilities and complexities that lie beneath. Natasha is a compelling and complex character whose journey resonates with themes of identity, authenticity, and the search for meaning.
Additional information
- This audition is open to young actresses 18+
- All roles are open for consideration.
- Rehearsals will consistently be on from 6.30 to 8.30 Thursdays with the additional Sunday daytime closer to performance dates.
- Performances are scheduled from the 24th of April to 27th of April.
- Tech and dress rehearsals are scheduled for Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd.
