Creative Connections with Hannah Turlington

Creative Connections is aimed at supporting people within the local community to develop a creative practice that they can use daily to support and enrich their own mental health and well being. Weekly evening sessions at Helmsley Arts Centre, during term time, enable those that want to attend to access after work hours, so it is as accessible as possible. The 2 hourly sessions are a place to learn new creative skills with minimal resources and give an activity that can be done at home between the sessions, encouraging attendees to make some time for themselves away from the session. The sessions focus on building up creative skills, such as sketchbook work, watercolours, collage etc, all of which are brought together to create a collaborative installation. The installation is then exhibited at Helmsley Arts Centre.

 

The project for November 2023 onwards is a lighting installation, created with a multi shaded lighting feature, where each person attending can use their learnt skills to create final pieces for the installation.
