Ian Cameron

I start my paintings by doing a wax crayon rubbing on a manhole cover. I cover the rubbing with a vibrant watercolour wash called 'Brusho'. This causes a wax resist result. On to that I draw my image with a dip pen & indian ink. I embellish the artwork with collage and watercolours.
The final picture has a great deal of depth brought about by the different layers or levels. I became interested in art quite late in life at 50 years of age in 2003 when I attended an evening class studying for GCSE Art. I enjoyed it so much that I followed that with AS Level and then A Level.
I increased my art knowledge by enrolling on an Art & Design Foundation Course at York College which honed my skills due to some excellent teaching. I have been selected on six separate occasions to exhibit my artwork during York Open Studios. I built my own wooden studio in my back garden where I create all my artwork.
