Piano player to the stars Dom Pipkin brings his acclaimed solo music and storytelling show Smokin’ Boogie to Helmsley. From brothels in the early 1900s to the night clubs of the French Quarter in New Orleans , Pipkin recreates the elegance of Jelly Roll Morton through to the rhumbas and pounding boogie woogie of masters such as Dr John and the “Black Liberace” James Booker, via Storyville, the birth of rock and roll, Fats Domino and beyond. This is more than a music show. It’s a piano tour-de-force from a modern day master telling a unique story of a unique city that has audiences spellbound every time.
Pipkin has performed all over the world and has countless radio and TV appearances to his credit, having worked with everyone from Laura Mvula to Paul Weller, Paloma Faith, David Byrne and Ray Davies.
