Susan, the central character of 'Woman in Mind' is a parson's wife. While her husband lives for his great work, she ministers to him in daily, humdrum fashion. So her vitality is directed towards a fantasy life, peopling the play with an idealised family, invisible to others (or.....?), which positively mirror the negative reality of her own life. And then alternative realities start to merge.
