Directed by Richard Noakes
The play follows the story of flamboyant stately home tour guide Lettice Douffet whose mother ran an all-female French Shakespeare troupe, and her erstwhile employer Lotte Schoen as they bond over a hatred of modern architecture and a penchant for antique booze.
The last of Shaffer's great plays ('Royal Hunt of the Sun', 'Equus' and 'Amadeus' preceded ), it was first performed in 1987.
